I
used a web-authoring tool called Tripod Lycos Site Builder to create my website. This
is a free website builder that is built into the Tripod website when you visit it. You
need an account in order access the builder. However, registering is free. I encountered a lot of challenges like learning how to add links to the navigation
bar so that the user can navigate from page to page without having to use the back or forward button on the browser. It took me a while to learn how to add links to the navigation menu bar as well as
copy a website and rename it. I needed to copy my own website several times because
I wanted to create an evolving site that showed incremental improvements. Therefore,
I had to create four different websites for the Educational Website Part I, II, III, IV and the Outside Project. In reality the Outside Project consists of three websites linked together.
I also encountered issues with formatting text in Tripod site builder. For
some strange reason, it would not allow me to format text according to my directions.
I overcame that part by copying text boxes from another webpage that pasting it into the webpage that I wanted thereby
copying the text format. Through much trial and error, I was able to get my websites
up and running. Creating and maintaining a website is a lot of work but perseverance
is key to completing my tasks.
