HOMEWORK POLICY
• Homework is given M-Th. (In the month
of April and early May, homework will be assigned on Fridays to help students prepare for the STAR/CST Exam.) •
Students are expected to do 50 minutes of homework plus 30 minutes of independent reading each night. • Homework
given on one day is due the following day unless otherwise stated. • Reading Records/Logs are given every Monday
and are due one week later on Monday. Students must read 30 minutes each night. For accountability,
parents must sign the Reading Record/Log every night after their child has completed their 30 minutes of reading. •
A minimum of 150 minutes of reading per week is expected. Students must fill in the name of the book they are reading
and write two reflective paragraphs on what they've read.
HOMEWORK AGENDAS
• Homework Agendas are
student planners with a calendar of the whole school year. They are 8.5x11 inches in size and have three holes
to fit three ring binders. • Each grade level has different agendas, although a fourth grade agenda can be used
for fifth grade and vice versa. • Homework agendas cost $5.00 each and are sold by individual teachers. •
The first purpose of Homework Agendas is for students to write down their daily homework assignments and major announcements
or reminders. Parents are expected to look over their child's homework agendas daily so they are aware of what
homework assignments are given. Parents should sign their child's homework agenda daily. • The second
purpose of Homework Agendas is to help teach students personal responsibility. • The third purpose of Homework Agendas
is to prepare students for Middle School. Homework Agendas are required at the Middle School.
WEEKLY
REFLECTIONS/REPORTS
• A weekly report card will be sent home every Monday that provides information on student
behavior, work habits and homework completion status to parents. There may be teacher comments and a place for
parents to respond back. The weekly report cards are due the following day on Tuesday. • Attached to
the week report card will be student tests that were completed the previous week. Parents are expected to look
at the test scores as well as any teacher comments and sign. Parents should send the weekly report card back to Mr. Chu through
their child.

There may be up to four field trips this year. They are as follows.
